John Gabel Weintraub was born in Poland on 21 December 1927. At three years old, he emigrated with his parents and brothers to Lima, Peru, where he will bring forth the foundations of a life dedicated to service and building trust.

At the age of 27, he took his first steps in the world of insurance as a co-founder of the Insurance Company to The Universal, to serve as exclusive agent. In 1970, before the change of the political regime, he moved with his family to Israel, where he founded an insurance broker who continues to run until the day of today.

In 1982, he returned to Peru with the purpose of recapturing their passion for the insurance, and founded together with his sons James and Reuben what is now Gabel Insurance Brokers. The first offices were located in the historic building of The Universal, in the center of Lima. At the beginning of the 90's, the company moved to its headquarters in San Isidro, from where it continues to operate until the present day.

In 2002, John Gabel left us physically, but his spirit and legacy live on in every action of the company. Their commitment, dedication and vision are still present in their children and grandchildren, who continue their mission of providing a service insurer with excellence, ethics and closeness.
